About 40 acres burned near Sycamore Avenue in Evesham Township on Wednesday, Oct. 30, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said on Facebook. The fire was 90 percent contained by 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, according to the final update from the NJFFS.
There were 15 homes threatened by the wildfire but no one needed to be evacuated. No roads were closed by the fire.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation. Smoke was expected to remain until the area receives significant rainfall.
Many parts of New Jersey were under mandatory fire restrictions due to drought conditions caused by more than a month without more than one-tenth of an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
